Prem Mehra is a wealthy, kind-hearted, and generous man who lives in a palatial home with his wife Laxmi, their daughter, and two sons, Vijay Mehra and Ravi Mehra. His foe, Dharamdas, hatches a bitter scheme with the help of an insider—Prem’s own accountant—to steal priceless diamonds from Prem’s safe, staging the crime in a way that makes Prem look guilty and causes him to lose his wealth and estate. The family is forced to relocate and takes refuge with their loyal employee, Rahim, a man who stands by them through thick and thin.

Vijay Mehra forges a new path as a news-reporter, while Ravi Mehra continues his studies, hoping for a better future for his family. The shadow of money looms large over Prem’s daughter’s upcoming marriage, as the family cannot afford the seven lakhs rupees needed for a dowry, adding emotional strain to their already fragile situation. Into this fraught atmosphere steps Radha, Vijay’s coworker, who brings warmth, kindness, and a quiet hope for a life together. The couple’s dreams of a blessed union collide with harsh realities, and a rift forms as Vijay makes a controversial choice: he marries Naina, the daughter of his boss Shraddha, in a deal that involves seven lakhs—money he plans to use to secure his sister’s dowry.
