From Beijing with Love 1994

Ling Ling Chat Stephen Chow is a hawker-turned-secret-agent who is sent by the Guangzhou Military Region to recover a priceless Tyrannosaurus fossil stolen from the Government of China. When he lands in Hong Kong, he crosses paths with Lee Heung-kam [Anita Yuen Wing-Yee], who offers to help but is revealed to be a subordinate of the criminal mastermind behind the theft—the Golden Gun Wong Kam-Kong. The conspirator-level twist makes the mission feel personal, turning a straightforward retrieval into a web of betrayal, double-crosses, and high-stakes danger.

The commander orders Heung-kam to guide Ling Ling Chat on a false lead, suggesting the cranium has fallen into the hands of a smuggler. With Heung-kam’s aid, Ling Ling Chat sneaks into a cocktail party hosted by the smuggler, and before entering he tells Heung-kam he will fetch her three white roses. She hides in a tree, ready to assassinate him from a distance. The party is disrupted by a mysterious man modeled after Jaws from James Bond and a mysterious woman who are determined to kill 007. Heung-kam shoots Ling Ling Chat several times, including a leg wound, with Ling Ling Chat assuming another assassin fired. He escapes wearing a bulletproof vest but not bulletproof trousers, grabbing three white roses on his way out. Heung-kam is deeply moved by this audacious gesture and saves his life, then decides to defect from Golden Gun. Together they dismantle the criminal network behind the fossil theft. In the end, Ling Ling Chat wins Heung-kam’s hand and is rewarded with a meat cleaver engraved with the calligraphy of Deng Xiaoping.
