The film follows more than four hundred Americans who undertook a bold, perilous experiment to rouse a complacent nation’s conscience. Calling themselves “Freedom Riders,” they confronted the entrenched segregation of the era by carrying out a starkly simple act of defiance, exposing the moral contradictions of a divided society and forcing the country to confront its own injustices.
