
In Orton Creek, a small town, David Farmer is accidentally killed by Don Curran, son of the tyrannical Will Curran, during a fraternity initiation. The frat boys frame electronics salesman Frank Govers for the hit‑and‑run. New sheriff Ralph Baker, aided by Jo Westlake, investigates. Govers and his girlfriend Lee Ann hide in a cabin, only to be seized by escaped convicts Mick August and Merlin Wells, whom Govers tricks into electrocuting himself. August pursues the bounty on Govers from Will Curran, but Baker stays one step behind.
