Isobel, a quiet and vulnerable young girl, finds herself lost and isolated on the bustling streets of London, with no one around to offer her help or even notice her presence. With only six days remaining until Christmas, she fixes her gaze on Jack, a weary commuter, as he converses with his distressed young son over the phone, seemingly understanding his concerns. Driven by a sense of empathy, she starts to follow him.

Jack, in his daily routine, approaches Benedict, an elderly homeless man, and hands him a coffee. Although Benedict merely stares blankly and offers little response, Jack seems unbothered by this typical interaction. Isobel watches this exchange closely, feeling a deep sense of compassion for Benedict’s dire situation. As she wanders through the city, her feelings of despair grow, yet she encounters Benedict once more that night. Just two nights before the holiday, Benedict, overwhelmed with anger, snaps at her to leave him alone, which sends Isobel fleeing in tears.

On Christmas Eve, after receiving some cash from Jack, Benedict strays from his usual spot and discovers a photograph of Isobel among the decaying bouquets that commemorate a tragic traffic accident. It suddenly dawns on him that Isobel is not merely a lost girl but someone in desperate need of his assistance. That very night, realizing the gravity of her situation, he sets out to find her and apologizes for his earlier outburst. In doing so, Isobel offers her teddy bear again. This time, Benedict notices the name and address sewn into the bear’s label—Owen, Isobel’s brother. He pledges to ensure the bear reaches Owen in time for Christmas, bringing a sense of contentment to Isobel, who hugs him tightly before vanishing and letting her balloon float into the night.

With newfound determination, Benedict arrives at Isobel’s home, where he meets Owen—a vibrant four-year-old bursting with energy. Owen dashes away to fetch his parents and soon returns with a stunned Jack. As Benedict hands over the teddy bear to Owen, he learns the devastating truth: Owen blames himself for Isobel’s death, believing she ran into the street to retrieve his bear when she was struck by a car. It becomes apparent that Isobel’s intention was to reassure her brother that she is safe.

As Benedict prepares to leave, Jack, grappling with the unexpected revelations, invites him in. As the credits roll, a young man appears at Benedict’s now-empty space, beginning to settle in. This poignant moment underscores the relentless cycle of homelessness that persists, even during the festive season.
