Loreli Daly is an over-the-hill beauty queen who left her Texas home after a scandal and has spent years overseeing beauty pageants, living vicariously through her daughter, Corrine Daly. On Corrine’s beauty school graduation day, she discovers a crumpled piece of paper in the trash urging Loreli to return to Texas to oversee the Miss Texas Tiara Quest. Corrine enlists her childhood friends, Tiffany Dawl and Liz Guild, to nudge Loreli back so the girls can compete in one final pageant—and Tiffany plans to shoot footage of their trip for a beauty-queen documentary for The Learning Channel. With encouragement from her longtime boyfriend Lyle Devereaux Green, Loreli agrees to the trip, and they all pile into Lyle’s Winnebago and hit the road.

Soon after embarking on their journey, a freak mishap results in death, and the group finds themselves in a constant struggle to get back to Texas. Along the way, the ensemble navigates a mix of humor, old wounds, and fresh ambitions as each character’s motive comes into sharper focus: Corrine’s desire to prove herself, Tiffany’s hunger for a compelling story, Liz’s grounded pragmatism, and Loreli’s lingering ache for past glory. The plan to document the trip gradually shifts from glamorous pageantry to raw, human drama as the camera records not just the spectacle of competition but the real stakes they carry: family, loyalty, and the fear of losing control over their own lives. The road becomes a moving stage where alliances form and fragile bonds are tested, all while the looming question remains: can they navigate back to Texas and reclaim their stories before hope fades?
