Pussyfoot is napping on a plush pillow when Claude Cat, voiced by Mel Blanc, kicks her off to claim the pillow for himself. Pussyfoot awakenings spark immediate trouble as the sly Claude turns aggressive, and the bold [Marc Antony] is quick to retaliate, slamming Claude aside, reclaiming Pussyfoot for the cat side of the pillow, and then turning on Claude with a flurry of blows. Filbert, the animals’ stodgy master, administers a sharp cane to Marc Antony with a stern warning to leave the cats alone.

After this, Claude schemes to convince Filbert that Marc Antony wants to harm the cats; while Marc Antony is sleeping, Claude slips Pussyfoot into his mouth and yowls to Filbert to make him think Marc Antony is trying to eat Pussyfoot. Claude’s ruse is a success, Filbert is taken in, and Marc Antony is banished from the house. Claude relishes his new life without Marc Antony, taunting the dog by openly abusing Pussyfoot in front of him, dropping Pussyfoot in a vase, and mockingly taunting Marc Antony.

Though exiled outside, Marc Antony finds ways to strike back from behind closed doors or by sneaking into the house in craftier ways. Most of Claude’s schemes are short-lived, with Filbert rapidly ejecting him from the home, yet they give Marc Antony just enough time to clobber Claude again before he is expelled. The repeated beatings eventually wear Claude down, pushing him toward surrender as he realizes Marc Antony will keep fighting until the truth is told.

Marc Antony forces Claude to confess to his crimes and is allowed back into the house to stand protectively beside his beloved Pussyfoot. A dazed Claude hands Filbert a signed confession, then retrieves Pussyfoot from the vase and places her back in her bed as Marc Antony watches closely, ready to pummel Claude again if he tries any trick to frame him or hurt Pussyfoot once more.

Filbert, indignantly certain of the deception, kicks Claude out of the house as punishment for framing Marc Antony and tricking him, sending him into the street where a streetcar promptly ends his mischief. Claude sits upright and bemoans, “Just one of those days, I guess,” before fading into unconsciousness.
