During a traffic accident, Stupid Shing Tony Leung, a gifted yet frustrated manhua artist, crosses paths with the female ghost Ching-ching Joey Wong Cho-Yin, who is momentarily bound to marry the Blood Demon. The collision plummets Shing’s car into the underworld and hurls Ching’s spirit into the living world.
Stranded in a world she doesn’t understand, Ching encounters the Ghost whore Deanie Yip Tak-Han, a young widow who was accused of adultery and, along with her son, drowned. The two exchange life stories and form a fragile kinship that bridges two very different existences.
Ching grows fond of Shing and, using her supernatural abilities, quietly helps him rise to the heights of his profession, turning him into a popular cartoonist. But every act of aid takes a toll on her, leaving her gradually more fragile as she sacrifices part of herself for his success.
Meanwhile, the Ghost whore’s son finally earns a chance to be reincarnated as a human. For that to happen, the Ghost whore must capture Ching and bring her back to the underworld to marry the Blood Demon. In her effort to secure a future for her son, she betrays Ching.
Driven to protect the one she loves, Shing makes a bold decision to enter the underworld and confront the Blood Demon. The finale sees the Ghost whore’s soul sacrificed to save Shing and Ching, as they face the deathly confrontation together.
The film blends romantic longing with otherworldly fantasy and tragedy, offering a meditation on sacrifice, loyalty, and the costs of crossing between two realms.
