Teel Johnson, Daniel Amerman, a Michigan teenager nicknamed Teel because he once couldn’t pronounce “Steel” while pretending to be Superman, reaches out to his childhood friend Madison Daniels, Daniela Bobadilla, who now lives in California after a suicide attempt by acetaminophen overdose. The two are worlds apart in school social life: Madison is an A-list party girl with a polished, high-energy social scene, while Teel is a quiet outcast who struggles to make real connections.
