In 1952, the death of Argentina’s First Lady, Eva Perón, sent shockwaves through the nation. To honor her memory, a skilled embalmer was tasked with preserving her body, and it became a site of pilgrimage for grieving Argentines. Following a military coup three years later, Juan Perón was forced to leave the country, unable to arrange for his wife's remains to be moved. The subsequent military junta, fearing Eva’s enduring influence, seized the body and prohibited public mention of her name.
