Somna Sadhana Shivdasani is a poor woman who shares a rugged, high-altitude life with her widowed mother Leela Durga Khote in a region that straddles India and Nepal. She earns her living on the apple farm belonging to the wealthy widower Kailashnath Kaushal Balraj Sahni, who also runs a mountaineering school where Amar Kumar Sanjay Khan trains. Somna and Amar meet and quickly fall in love, dreaming of a wedding soon after Amar returns from a challenging climbing expedition. But fate intervenes when a powerful avalanche sweeps through the mountains, killing Amar and the other climbers and leaving Somna grief-stricken and alone.

In the wake of tragedy, Somna is assaulted by Shamsher Singh, and Kailash arrives in time to defend her. Learning that Somna is pregnant, he steps in to propose marriage, and they begin a new life together as husband and wife. Somna gives birth to a son, Bobby, and Kailash, who cannot have biological children after an earlier accident, happily embraces fatherhood. Shamsher is jailed for six years, and the family settles into a fragile sense of peace. Five years pass, and during Bobby’s sixth birthday celebration, Amar unexpectedly returns, rekindling a complicated tension. Bobby loves Kailash deeply but also forms a bond with Amar, his biological father, much to Somna and Kailash’s dismay. Somna insists that Bobby not see Amar, while Kailash supports his son’s happiness and urges Somna to accept it.

Somna confronts Amar and makes clear that she does not want him visiting anymore. Distressed, Amar vows to stop seeing Bobby. On a walk with Kailash, Bobby spots Amar and races toward him, only to slip into a dangerous dynamite zone and injure himself. At the hospital, doctors warn that he has lost a lot of blood. Kailash offers to donate, but his blood type doesn’t match. Amar steps in and donates blood, saving Bobby’s life. While Kailash is grateful that his son is alive, the fear of Amar taking Bobby away lingers in his heart.

Amar pieces together the truth: Bobby is indeed his son. True to Kailash’s fears, Amar goes to claim Bobby while the boy is unconscious, but Somna interrupts and explains that Bobby is Kailash’s son and that Amar’s sacrifice helped preserve Somna’s dignity and love for Bobby. Kailash overhears the revelation and is deeply moved. In a quiet moment of heartbreak, Amar chooses to let Kailash keep Bobby and quietly leaves them forever.

Soon after, Shamsher returns and kidnaps Bobby, demanding a ransom and Somna’s surrender. Bobby manages to escape his captor and glimpses Amar in the distance, but Shamsher pursues him again. Kailash and Somna intervene to rescue the boy, and Kailash fights Shamsher with all his strength. Shamsher overpowers Kailash, but the old mountaineer is determined to protect his family and finally falls from the struggle when the rope finally gives way. Amar arrives just in time to rescue Bobby, pulling him to safety as Kailash’s grip loosens. Though they all mourn Kailash, his final act ensures that Bobby is rescued and safe.

Years pass, and Amar and Somna remain together, guiding Bobby as he enters the mountaineering school in Uhuru. The headmaster assumes Bobby’s last name is Amar’s, prompting Amar to set the record straight: Bobby Kailash, the son of Kailash Nath Kaushal. The film closes with the three of them standing on the horizon, united by sacrifice, memory, and a hopeful future.
