In the opening scene, Henry Jekyll, a young boy, witnesses his father with a prostitute in a barn. The brutal punishment that follows for spying scars him for life and awakens repressed understandings of pain, control, and dark longing. As years pass in late 1880s England, the adult doctor Henry Jekyll relentlessly pushes into the labyrinth of the human psyche, chasing a way to separate impulse from reason. A reckless experiment spills ether and cocaine into his system, triggering a violent unraveling of his senses. The once-respected scientist suddenly becomes the monstrous Jack “The Ripper” Hyde, a figure of fear who uses the same compound to manipulate and incite brutality among others. He begins a ruthless killing spree, targeting prostitutes and clients alike, and turning their encounters into a twisted contest of domination and death. The pattern of these murders draws the gaze of a Scotland Yard detective and unsettles Elisabeth Jekyll, his wife, who senses something dangerous lurking behind her husband’s nocturnal disappearances.
As the blood of the killings continues to mark the city, Elisabeth grows increasingly convinced that her husband is somehow entwined with the carnage. The investigation intensifies as Hyde’s trail leads into a shadowy underworld, complicating Jekyll’s careful public facade. One night, after a transformation, Jekyll is shadowed by Elisabeth to a brothel, and from there to a sadomasochistic sequence at a derelict warehouse where Hyde’s partners descend into madness and threaten Elisabeth. She manages to escape the chaos, but Hyde relentlessly pursues her back to her house. There, he breaks in and murders Elisabeth before shifting back into Dr. Jekyll, effectively erasing the evidence of his crime and continuing the deadly ruse that allows the killing cycle to persist. The film lingers on the chilling duality within one man as he navigates love, paranoia, and an ever-deepening hunger for control and violence.
