Dr. Chakravarthy returns home after completing his higher studies abroad, greeted with warmth by his friends and his beloved, Sridevi. He then focuses on his cherished sister, Sudha, a talented musician, writer, and poet, showered with affection by him and supported by her wealthy husband, Shekar. On his way back, the reunion rekindles memories of his childhood as he reconnects with his longtime friend, Ravindra, an engineer. Life at home takes a bittersweet turn as Chakravarthy confronts Sudha’s grave illness, a terminal cancer that casts a shadow over everyone. To console her, he reaches out to Sridevi, and Sudha, aware of the closeness blossoming between Chakravarthy and Sridevi, asks him to help knit together Nirmala, Sridevi’s sister, before Sudha’s breath slips away.

Chakravarthy agrees to the request and soon becomes the backbone of the family, even planning a future memorial in Sudha’s honor. The contrast between Chakravarthy’s steadfast devotion and Nirmala’s carefree attitude creates a quiet distance; he finds himself lonely at times, surrounded by people yet longing for deeper harmony. When Ravindra invites them all, they meet his ideal wife, Madhavi, and Chakravarthy is struck by resemblances to Sudha in Madhavi’s politeness, love of music, and poetic temperament. Madhavi, initially wary of Chakravarthy’s intensity, comes to understand the strength of his brotherly bond with Sudha and gradually accepts him.

As Ravindra departs on an official tour, Madhavi is left pregnant and under Chakravarthy’s trust. Ravindra’s presence and Madhavi’s wellbeing become a focal point of tension; Nirmala grows wary of Ravindra’s affection for Madhavi and, in a bid to protect her own interests or to test loyalties, writes an anonymous letter that sows doubt in Ravindra’s mind about Madhavi’s purity. Ravindra, shaken by the suspicion, leaves Madhavi without revealing the full truth. Madhavi, worried and vulnerable, goes to her brother Sridhar under the premise of delivery. Ravindra falls into grief and despair, turning to alcohol as his heart tightens with confusion, while Madhavi’s health gradually falters. Chakravarthy, with Sridevi by his side, guides Madhavi through the crisis, and Sridevi’s support becomes a steadying force in the family.

The truth about the anonymous letter slowly comes to light as Sridhar confronts Ravindra. Realizing the deception, Chakravarthy discerns that Nirmala orchestrated the misunderstanding and rebukes her, prompting her to leave the house. Ravindra, betrayed and furious, even contemplates violence against Chakravarthy, but a turning point arrives as Ravindra confronts the consequences of the rift and learns of Chakravarthy’s sacred bond with Madhavi. In parallel, Nirmala faces a humbling reckoning alongside Shekar. As Madhavi’s condition reaches its most fragile moment, Ravindra rushes to make amends; Chakravarthy steps back into the picture to protect Madhavi and her unborn child, deciding to depart abroad for good if needed. A dramatic turn occurs when Madhavi collapses, and Ravindra pleads for a second chance to restore the trust that was broken. Miraculously, Madhavi survives after the emotional upheaval, and the newborn boy is named in honor of Chakravarthy, a tribute Ravindra reveres.

In the end, the film settles into a hopeful reunion, with the family restored and strengthened by the trials they endured. The cadence of love, duty, and forgiveness threads through every relationship, leaving the impression of a house rebuilt on mutual respect and shared memories.
