Jason Drake, David Carradine, oversees a research operation at Drake Industries Research Lab in Hawaii, where two fearsome reptiles — Dinocroc and Supergator — are the main subjects of study. Early on, Supergator breaks loose, killing two scientists before plunging into the water, while Dinocroc wrecks a wall to escape and fatally consumes another scientist before vanishing into the trees. The dawn of chaos sets off a desperate attempt to contain the monsters, and Drake understandably wants them dead.
With the situation spiraling, Drake orders an elite mercenary group to eliminate the creatures, but the hired team is quickly overwhelmed when Dinocroc emerges in a fury and wipes them out. Realizing that a conventional strike won’t cut it, Drake turns to Fish & Game hunter Bob Logan, Rib Hillis, known to locals as “the Cajun,” hoping his experience might finally bring the menace under control. The plan shifts from a shotgun approach to a more strategic pursuit, weaving through the humid landscape and the floating hazards of the river.
Meanwhile, a quietly unfolding subplot intensifies the stakes. Paul Beaumont, Corey Landis, a wildlife observer, crosses paths with Cassidy Swanson, Amy Holt, and a complex dynamic begins to form as they navigate their growing connection amid the crisis. Drake himself hosts a private party, where he meets a woman named Victoria Chase, Lisa Clapperton, and urges her to join forces with the Cajun on the riverine hunt. The unlikely trio of Victoria and the Cajun sets off on a boat down the river, steering toward the next confrontation.
As the chase intensifies, a distress call leads them to Kimberly Taft, Delia Sheppard, a woman who begs for help. They pull her into the jeep as Dinocroc closes in, adding another layer of peril to an already perilous pursuit. Cassidy and her father, Charlie Swanson, John Callahan, attempt to shoot at Supergator, with Charlie taking a risky shot that blows out the creature’s eye and seems to briefly daze it — only to have him himself be claimed by the monstrous predator.
The pursuit pushes toward a mill where the human-and-monster showdown reaches a fever pitch. Bob Logan and Paul Beaumont execute a plan, detonating C-4 to seal the mill off and prevent any escape. Dinocroc and Supergator collide in a brutal, muddy melee that shatters storage bins and ruptures the mill’s sawdust reserves. The escalating clash culminates in Dinocroc overpowering Supergator, delivering a crushing blow that tilts the balance of the battle in its favor.
Paul then moves into position, tossing an explosive into range to ignite the sawdust and unleash a devastating fireball. The blast annihilates Dinocroc, while Supergator is extinguished in the resulting inferno. Though Paul appears to perish in the blast, he miraculously survives the fiery misfortune. As the smoke clears, Bob, Paul, and Cassidy escape the mill, and the final lingering image hints at the possible offspring of the fallen beasts — babies still hidden within the wreckage, leaving a chilling uncertainty about what, if anything, might remain.
