To fund his terminally ill great aunt’s care, Marwan leans into the catering world’s more unorthodox offerings, and the venture gradually becomes a conduit for sexual services. Makeda, Andrea’s partner who works for an escort service, steps into the arrangement, coordinating connections and expanding the client base. The money starts flowing freely, turning Love Food into a thriving enterprise, even as it toes the edge of legality and ethics. The pair’s partnership pushes Marwan deeper into a world where appetite and money intersect in complicated ways.

Meanwhile, family ties pull at Marwan in another direction. His nephew, Ulagu, returns to their homeland and becomes entangled with the Tamil Tigers. Marwan’s attempt to protect him ends in tragedy—Ulagu dies after a weapon is used in the crisis zone, a loss that appears to be tied to a client of the catering service, Dalmann. The death shatters Marwan personally and tests the limits of his growing influence in the venture he helped build.

When the elder family member passes away, Marwan chooses to withdraw from cooking for Love Food. In the last meal he prepares for the man Dalmann and for Andrea’s girlfriend, Makeda, the plan to end one life becomes a turning point that signals a broader moral reckoning. The death is attributed to a drugged drink, a deliberate act that reverberates through the business and its participants. In the aftermath, Andrea and Makeda’s bond crystallizes, while Marwan seeks a new path forward by turning his attention toward Sandana. An arranged marriage with her had long been in the works, though she initially rejects him, setting up a complicated, fragile future.
