Deep in the Woods 2010

As a mother reads Little Red Riding Hood to her son, tragedy interrupts the moment when she is killed before his eyes. Later, five young actors, including Sophie Jeanne and her four friends, are invited to the castle of Axel de Fersen to perform a modernized stage adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood. They are greeted by Stephane, the gamekeeper, as well as Baron Berléand Fernsen, the wheelchair-using owner, and his deaf son Nicolas.

After dinner, their host retires for the night while the guests settle in for a lively evening of drinking and dancing. Soon the atmosphere shifts when the Baron vanishes, leaving behind only a blood stain that unsettles everyone. The party resumes, but Sophie feels their behavior is disrespectful and oblivious to the lurking danger. She longs to leave the strange castle, though the others argue that she could easily get lost in the woods if she tries.

The tension escalates as the friends are gradually killed one by one. Matilda is stabbed in the shower by a man disguised as a wolf, and Jeanne dies as the danger closes in. The three remaining survivors grow frantic and search for Stephane, whom they suspect might be the killer. When Wilfried is slain, Sophie accuses Matthieu of being the murderer, a confrontation that strains their bond even as fear tightens its grip on them.

The mystery intensifies until the truth collides with the chilling reality of the castle’s dark corridors. The confrontation leads Sophie and Matthieu to encounter the wolf—Axel de Fersen—in a fateful confrontation, and Sophie manages to kill him. With the danger finally confronted, she flees the castle alongside Matthieu and Nicolas, seeking safety beyond the walls.

In the end, the film threads together themes of performance, peril, and perception, using the castle as a stage where the lines between fiction and threat blur. The narrative unfolds with a measured, somber tempo, inviting viewers to question how a night of entertainment can spiral into a deadly ordeal and how those who survive must reckon with what they have witnessed.
