What Is Danton About?
The premise of Danton without spoilers, adapted from Danton's Death by Georg Büchner and Howard Brenton.
A pre‑World War II German costume drama set during the French Revolution, it centers on the rivalries of Danton, Robespierre and Marat. The narrative follows the dramatic fall and 1794 execution of Georges Danton by Maximilien Robespierre, while also offering a striking, though historically inaccurate, depiction of King Louis XVI.
