Edgar [David Richmond-Peck] is on the bathroom floor, giving CPR to someone, and suddenly he finds himself in the car with his wife Maylon [Bernadette Saquibal], clearly upset. Is this memory returning or a dream slipping into reality? Maylon is concerned, and she should be, since Edgar is driving distracted. A call from the school interrupts the moment: their 13-year-old son Gogan has hurt someone.

Maylon’s appearance hints at a complex background; she seems Asian, Middle Eastern, or Native American, and there are subtitles when she speaks to Gogan. Edgar reveals he once taught Maylon English, and the two fell in love, a backstory that adds depth to their fragile relationship. Edgar is portrayed as a kind, nerdy teacher, while his brother Lance is the more handsome foil. He suspects Maylon of cheating, and the father-son bond with Gogan is strained; Edgar even contemplates sending Gogan to live with other relatives, a plan Gogan resists, convinced there’s more at stake than he’s ready to admit.

Back home, the couple’s tension seems to ease temporarily. Edgar mows the lawn while Gogan doesn’t, and Lance arrives to fix the mower. Inside the house, Edgar slips into different spaces and times, a clue that he may be trapped between memory and dream, and the seams of reality are starting to fray.

Night falls, and Edgar enters a long, depressing hallway filled with locked doors. He opens one to find an AA-like meeting broadcast on a TV screen, with a stern woman called the “Facilitator” in charge. The screen’s signals are odd, as if the broadcast has eyes on every patient in the room. A tough, sexy Doris [Michelle Harrison] wears a miniskirt and boots and is openly cruel to Edgar. William [Richard Harmon], a shy group member, stands up to confess his wrongs. Edgar refuses to participate and leaves for another room, where a demanding man on another TV screen asks him to comply. It becomes clear that Edgar is dead, reframing what’s happening as a kind of afterlife procedure rather than ordinary therapy.

From then on, the events from the opening repeat, hinting at a Groundhog Day-like loop where Edgar might alter outcomes if he acts differently. The repetition brings new details to light and hints at the true stakes behind the memories. Edgar becomes convinced that Maylon may have had an affair with Lance and that she may have even attempted to kill him, turning suspicion into a catalyst for action.

Edgar returns to that space and meets Julien [Michael Eklund], a rebel who both helps and bullies, complicating Edgar’s plan to escape. Doris’s demeanor grows warmer, and Isabel—a named participant who isn’t central to the plot—confesses as others plot what to do next. Edgar discovers a possible escape route in the room with the Meloni-like man, but the film presents multiple forks: a second option, a third option, and a fourth option that could lead to the ending. The closing question remains: will Edgar find a way out, rewrite the night, or accept another fate the loop offers, all while confronting the truths about his relationships, trust, and mortality?
