Jack Davenport, played by William R. In Clearwater, the story widens to include the people who populate the town, among them Michael Curtis, the church’s reverend who has adopted a little girl from China; Vicki Taylor Ross as Naomi Williams, a Clearwater newspaper writer who helps connect the dots; and Meg Davenport Megan Follows, Jack’s wife, who gently anchors the emotional stakes. The locals—Vanessa, a courthouse employee; Jimmy James, Clearwater’s sheriff; and the judge—appear as either informants or shadows, hinting at a history that could bruise or bless those who seek the truth.

A palpable caution comes from the judge, who tells Jack that revealing the identity of an adoptee’s parents can unleash suffering, pointing out that one adopted girl died three years earlier. In 1963 Joe faced another heartbreaking collision with fate: his daughter Carmen Ana Ottolman gave birth to a boy on December 24, 1963, but Carmen died two days later. Joe arranged for his grandson to be adopted and then disappeared from the press, leaving behind a question that refuses to fade.

As Naomi helps assemble historical articles, she enlists Vanessa’s help in searching courthouse records, but the birth records Jack seeks have vanished. The missing documents become a symbol of a truth someone didn’t want to surface. The deeper Jack goes, the more the past asserts itself: Carmen Ottolman was his mother.
