Gayathri, Sneha, a marine student, is married off to an irrigation engineer against her wishes, a union she accepts with a heavy heart and a sense of drifting through life on autopilot. Her sunken spirit lingers as she begins a new chapter that feels more like a compromise than a connection, and the memory of a freer past tugging at her.

She travels to Rameswaram to study coral reefs and marine ecosystems, staying with her uncle and cousin in a small fisherman’s hamlet perched by the coast. It’s here that she first encounters Chinna, Arjun Sarja, and his cadre—local mobsters who work for a larger, unseen gang—as they propel a string of violent acts through the quiet shores. Gayathri hopes to report the crimes to the local SP, but her uncle and cousin urge restraint, warning that passion and fear can blur judgment. To pursue her research, she asks for a guide to take her to locations rich in marine life, and her uncle turns to Chinna, asking him to assist with the expedition.

After a few tense, near-misses with Chinna, Gayathri begins to see a different side of him—soft, almost childlike, and capable of care beyond the rough exterior. She resolves to reform him, hoping to mold his rough edges into something constructive and socially acceptable. As their bond deepens, love blooms in the midst of danger, and Chinna fights to straighten his life, even as the shadows of his violent past cast doubts over their future.

Yet a fierce feud with the local gang erupts, pulling Gayathri into the crossfire of Chinna’s world. In a desperate bid to shield her, Chinna kills the gang leader, paying a brutal price and receiving a life sentence in prison. With Chinna removed from the scene, Gayathri’s parents move quickly to secure her future, arranging her marriage to the irrigation engineer—an arrangement meant to bring stability at a moment when she is most unsettled.

The narrative then shifts forward into the second half, where Chinna’s obsession with Gayathri drives him to violence, as he eliminates anyone who stands in the way of his pursuit of her. The drama escalates to a fierce climax: just as Chinna threatens Gayathri’s husband, she shoots him to protect her partner and the life she has chosen. In the aftermath, Chinna asks if she ever felt anything for him—even for a moment. She nods, and he descends into the void, leaping from a building as the tale ends. The final image leaves a haunting impression of love, loss, and a life cut short by the consequences of desire.
