Chicken Feet, Kit and James were once apprentices of Uncle Fan. In a high-stakes test set in Osaka against the formidable Taro Yamamoto, loyalties fractured: [James] betrayed his mentor, colluding with Yamamoto, yet Fan’s camp still edged out a victory for Kit. The fallout was brutal; [James] killed Yamamoto after a bitter berating, and chaos followed as Chicken Feet rushed in to rescue Fan. Fan’s escape left him crippled after a desperate leap from a platform, while Kit endured a brutal beating by James’s henchmen and was framed for Yamamoto’s murder, landing him behind bars. The trio’s ties unraveled in a single night of danger, deception and near-fatal choices.

After the dust settled, [James] seized Fan’s casino ship and turned it into a leaner operation, with Chicken Feet running a smaller gambling boat by his side. The dream of glory in Asia’s Gambling Tournament kept them focused, but Chicken Feet’s skills still lagged behind the ruthless demand of the game and the men who control it.

The pursuit of power intensified when James learned he needed a jade tablet tied to the God of Gamblers to seal a win in the Asia Gambling Tournament. Fan, who held the jade, became a target, and the pressure mounted as Fan devised a risky plan. He manipulated events so Chicken Feet would deliver a briefcase to an old friend to shield him from danger, while Fan met with James to bargain and threaten. When Fan refused to surrender the jade, James drew a gun and chaos erupted. Fan’s right-hand man, Kei, tried to shield him but was cut down by James’s top henchman, Pau. In the ensuing mayhem, Fan threw himself into the ocean and chose death over capture. [Kit] learned of Fan’s death only after a newspaper hit his flight back to Hong Kong, and the grief pushed him toward a pivotal choice: he would quit gambling for good. At Fan’s funeral, Kit resolved to stand by his own path, but a telegram from Fan hinted at something more, a trail of messages that might still affect everyone’s fate. Meanwhile, Mr. Yeung pushed Kit to lose on purpose for a fortune, offering US$10 million, yet Kit refused the trap and pressed on with his own code. Amid the family’s sorrow, Kit also began to repair the fractures in his personal life, reclaiming his daughter Yan-yan from a troubled home and trying to heal her trauma through patience and care.

Back in the shadows, Kit found work as a cocktail bartender at a friend’s bar, King Kong’s spot, but violence followed. James ordered Pau to trash the bar, beat King Kong, and kidnap Yan-yan, dragging the already-wounded family back into danger. [Chicken Feet] charged into James’s office to confront the henchmen and rescue Yan-yan, leading to a brutal blackjack duel. If [Chicken Feet] lost, he would have to strip to his underwear; if he won, Yan-yan would be freed. Kit arrived just in time, but James’s cruelty pulled him deeper into the trap: James demanded that Kit cut off his own hand to win back his daughter, and Kit, in a heartbreaking moment, complied.

The stakes climbed higher as the trio—Chicken Feet, Kit, and Mui—closed their gambling boat and opened a fast-food restaurant. Yet the everyday friction of entitled customers gnawed at Chicken Feet, testing his limits outside the casino world. Mui confided in Kit’s girlfriend about Fan’s telegraphs and the jade tablet, hoping to help Chicken Feet. The pursuit led them to a cemetery and a cryptic clue: the number 873154 on a tombstone where the jade tablet lay hidden inside a case, along with another message.

In a coordinated effort, Chicken Feet urged Mui and Kit’s girlfriend to take the jade and leave, while he stayed behind with the case to misdirect James. The chase intensified as Pau and his henchmen closed in, and Mui arrived with the other women’s car to intervene. A desperate confrontation followed: Mui ran Pau over, Chicken Feet seized a henchman’s gun and eliminated several attackers, and Mui herself plunged into the water, badly injuring her leg. When James and his growing force arrived, Mui attacked again, knocking Chicken Feet unconscious with a boat paddle to slip him into a rescue plan. James’s men blinded Chicken Feet with a fluorescent lamp, and Mui died from her injuries, a sobering blow to their fragile alliance.

Kit uncovered Fan’s final letter, a confounding note promising US$20 million to help him seek revenge if needed, along with instructions to use the jade tablet. Kit rejected the money and reconfirmed his resolve to finish the journey on his own terms. The two men finally stepped into the Asia Gambling Tournament, joining James and a fourth competitor in a high-stakes showdown that would decide more than a title.

In the final round, [Chicken Feet] faced [James] in a tense, opening pair of hands. Chicken Feet held a concealed set: A♠, 3♠, 4♠, 5♠ and 2♠, while James carried J♣, J♦, Q♦, Q♥ and a hidden Q♠. The atmosphere crackled with nerve as the two men stared down the possibility of a lifetime. Chicken Feet called show hand and placed the jade tablet—and his life—on the table, wagering everything for the win. Intimidated, James chose to concede, effectively surrendering the tournament to his rival in a dramatic reversal. The moment of triumph revealed that the jade had been fake all along, baiting James into a costly miscalculation.

To up the drama, Kit staged a quiet show of reconciliation with James in front of Yeung, while Mr. Chung—Yeung’s rival—hinted that James had gambled US$5 million on his own loss, a setup that Yeung’s henchmen quickly exploited to kill James as he left the tournament. With the money and danger closing in, [Chicken Feet] briefly stepped away from Hong Kong to escape the fallout, only to have Kit shot by Yeung’s assassins soon after seeing him off.

In the end, the line between loyalty and ambition blurred beyond recognition as two men walked away with the illusion of victory, while the others faced the true cost of chasing power in a city where luck can turn in an instant.
