Anton, a pool manager, swims and philosophizes in a river with his major and canon friends when summer rain falls. A caravan arrives; Ernie the Conjuror strings a pole across river, does a trick and invites all to his show. The arrival of Arnoštek, a touring tightrope walker played by Jiří Menzel, brings a spark of risk and spectacle.
