Si-ying Vivian Sung is a university freshman who balances her studies with a part-time job at a small campus café. There, she crosses paths with A Bu-si Megan Lai, a gifted barista who can craft any coffee to order, and with the café’s quiet proprietress Vivian Chow, who tends to sit in the corner and observe the flow of the shop. Also part of this everyday rhythm is Ze-Yu Marcus Chang, a presence that colors Si-ying’s thoughts as the café becomes a small center of her social world.

One day, Senior A-Tuo Bruce He—a somewhat legendary figure on campus who carries a sunny, optimistic outlook—visits the café with his friends and encounters A Bu-si, who, in a twist of fate, has her own complicated relationship history. The moment is charged with awkward humor as the friends tease A-Tuo, and Si-ying steps in with a strong sense of justice, helping him out of a tricky situation. This act of kindness marks the beginning of a genuine friendship between Si-ying and A-Tuo, built on small acts of support and growing trust.

Beyond the café walls, A-Tuo leads a busy double life. He works part-time at a roadside stall and also lends his cooking skills to Bao Ge Lee Luo, a former movie director who now acts as a mediator for gangs and runs a restaurant. It’s here that he meets Aunt Jin-dao Pauline Lan, Bao Ge’s wife, and learns to cook a noodle dish under her tutelage. After a petty quarrel between Bao and his wife, Aunt Jin-dao starts her own dry-cleaning shop, the place where Si-ying first encounters her.

What begins as casual acquaintances soon deepens into a solid friendship as Si-ying and A-Tuo spend more time together, sharing conversations and small adventures. Meanwhile, A-Tuo’s feelings for Si-ying intensify, even as Si-ying remains drawn to Ze-Yu, cherishing the comfort of a close friendship with A-Tuo while her heart leans toward Ze-Yu. The trio’s dynamic is tempered by warmth, honesty, and the slow accumulation of trust as they navigate youthful hopes and connections.

Later, A-Tuo travels overseas to backpack and explore new horizons, and it is during this period of distance that Si-ying comes to recognize something clearer: A-Tuo is the person she has been waiting for all along. The story unfolds with gentle realism, focusing on everyday moments, quiet sacrifices, and the shifting shades of friendship and affection that slowly reshape the characters’ paths.
