Burning Souls 2014
Set during a dark chapter in German history, this film explores the era when belief in the occult flourished. In Bamberg around 1630, a greedy and delusional Bishop Prince instigated witch hunts, using them to eliminate political rivals and seize their possessions. Nearly 1000 innocent people, including men, women, and children, were tragically caught in his schemes. The story unfolds through the perspectives of Johanna Wolff, a pharmacist’s daughter, and the young physician Cornelius Weinmann, who join a revolt to protect the wrongly accused.
