Khogiram Maheshwar Gwala, Atul Kulkarni, and his wife Kalyani Gwala raise their children, Pinaki Darsheel Safary and Rimzim Ziyah Vastani, in a family that struggles to afford uniforms or shoes. When Pinu misplaces Rimzim’s only pair of shoes in a vegetable shop, a quiet secret is born between the siblings: Rimzim agrees not to tell their mother, knowing she cannot go to school without her footwear. To cope, they хит a plan to share one pair of shoes—Rimzim wears them in the morning and passes them to Pinu at midday so he can attend his classes in the afternoon. Yet the arrangement is fragile; Pinu often waits for Rimzim to hand over the shoes, and trouble at school becomes a familiar backdrop as they navigate poverty together.

The story deepens when Rimzim notices a new, shiny pair of shoes on a different, equally poor girl. Curious, she asks about the old pair and discovers the other girl had discarded it—an encounter that stirs both disappointment and longing. Khogiram, desperate for money, borrows gardening equipment and heads to the rich suburbs to find work. He and Pinu keep trying, visiting several mansions until they finally find a paying job with a family whose mansion belongs to a six‑year‑old girl and her grandmother. While Pinu plays with the young girl, Khogiram works, and the boy learns of an interschool marathon where a prize includes a new pair of sneakers.

Pinu enters the marathon with the hope of winning the third prize—a new pair of sneakers that he could exchange for the girl’s shoes and gift to Rimzim. In a surprising twist, he ends up winning first place, and the moment is overwhelmed with emotion as he stands on the podium crying, realizing the sneakers go to the third-placed runner instead of him.
