Nearing retirement, the maverick Los Angeles detective Frank ‘Bullet’ Marasco, Danny Trejo, is tasked with chasing down the notorious drug lord Carlito Kane, Jonathan Banks after a tip from Leroy, Max Perlich. Leroy’s tip comes with brutal consequences, as he is later killed for interrupting Kane’s golf game. Bullet and his team storm one of Kane’s hideouts, but the elusive kingpin slips away, underscoring the danger at every turn and proving this pursuit won’t be settled by standard police work alone.
The case grows darker when Governor Johnson, John Savage, discovers that his daughter has been abducted by Kane along with her boyfriend, a move meant to force Kane’s own son, Manuel Kane, Eric Etebari, out of a grim fate. Kane broadcasts the boyfriend’s execution to the Governor, delivering a chilling message: the daughter will be next if the state does not halt Manuel’s impending death. The stakes escalate as Bullet navigates coercive threats, political pressure, and a kidnapper who seems always one step ahead.
Bullet escalates his plan by involving his grandson, Mario, Kyle Villalovos, sending him to a park under the hope of a routine distraction. Kane, however, uses the moment to seize a win and kidnap Mario, turning Bullet’s family into a weapon against him. The pressure tightens when Bullet himself is abducted as the manhunt intensifies, though he manages a narrow escape, keeping the hunt alive even as Kane grows bolder and more brutal with each passing hour.
A long, tense car chase follows, with Bullet managing to dodge Kane and his henchmen only to be blindsided again the next day. The chase and counter-chase push Bullet to the edge, testing his resolve and ingenuity as he contemplates his next, character-defining move. He ultimately resigns from the civil service and slips into a vigilante role, seeking weaponry from a trusted cousin and dedicating himself to finishing Kane once and for all. In a brutal interrogation, Bullet confronts one of Kane’s aides, killing her in a bathtub when she refuses to cooperate, signaling that mercy is no longer an option.
Desert sands become Kane’s sanctuary as he and his closest followers retreat, but Bullet closes in, methodically taking down Kane’s men one by one, including the four who helped snatch Mario. The body count climbs, yet so does Bullet’s resolve, and the path to a definitive confrontation becomes unmistakable.
In the climactic confrontation, Bullet emerges victorious. He rescues Johnson’s daughter and delivers a public reckoning by seeing Manuel Kane publicly executed, a moment that seals the triumph in the eyes of those hoping for justice. The film closes on a quiet, relieved note as Bullet, his daughter, and Mario share a peaceful evening at the beach, savoring the long-awaited sense of closure after a case that tested the limits of law, loyalty, and familial bonds.
