What Is Blue Box About?
The premise of Blue Box without spoilers, adapted from Blue Box, Vol. 1 by Kouji Miura.
A century ago, the Jewish National Fund’s Blue Box campaign encouraged worldwide donations to reforest Palestine. However, this initiative coincided with the displacement of Palestinian communities and the acquisition of vast tracts of land. The film explores the legacy of Joseph Weits, a key figure in the JNF, through his personal diaries which detail the extensive land transfers that contributed to the founding of Israel. A family’s investigation into Weits’s involvement reveals a complex and often troubling history related to Israel’s origins.
