In 1944–45, Blade is at the center of a shadowy war between puppets, science, and a resurgent Nazi menace. The events begin as Ivan travels to Russia to pursue brain research, leaving Elisa in charge of the gifted dolls. Soon after, Elisa is plagued by vivid nightmares that flash the deaths of Elsa and Major Kraus, and she realizes these are psychic memories she’s picking up from Blade. She also witnesses Blade in distress through these visions, hinting at a looming danger that only he can sense. Blade is unique among the puppets: he is the one capable of faint movements, though his elixir is nearly depleted. He hides behind a trunk like a watchful guardian or simply observes Elisa as she goes about her days, including bathing.

Elisa notices that Blade is different from the others. He feeds on her psychic energy, and their bond deepens when she sharpens his dull knife—an act that accidentally draws blood from her and forges a powerful blood link between them. Madison, a man who has betrayed his country and possesses top-secret files that include the Scroll of Osiris and sensitive details about Toulon’s puppets.

Blade dares a solo sortie into the night to hunt the Nazis, finding a factory hideout where a corrupt American officer named Noel Jason Scott lurks, stealing supplies for the Nazis. When Bruce discovers Blade beneath a sheet, he lashes out with a baton, calling him “Pinocchio.” Blade defends himself with his eye-spikes, driving Bruce to slam him into a wall and pushing the spikes deeper. He escapes, gathering just enough energy to impale Bruce’s ankle with a hooked weapon, then drags him and finishes him off in a brutal, visceral sequence. Elisa dreams through these events, feeling a surge of power each time Blade’s knife is used, confirming the psychic link between them.

The plot thickens as Gloria Vasquez, a Spanish nationalist spy, and her henchman break into Elisa’s apartment seeking Blade and the hidden Scroll of Osiris. They locate the scroll behind a painting, while Gloria uses a chemical to render photographer Barney Barnes unconscious for extraction to Hauser’s lab. Blade has been watching from a closet and then moves to the window, where he seizes a moment to leap down and follow Gloria to Hauser’s secret lair. In the meantime, Madison uses a smoke bomb at the Daily Herald to knock out Elisa and Detective Joe Gray, abducting them to the same hideout. Joe Gray is suspended from a ceiling with a broken leg, and Elisa is strapped to a device that tortures her as Hauser struggles to translate the Scroll’s symbols because he cannot read Russian, Greek, or Egyptian scripts.

Hauser reveals his ultimate plan: use a gigantic Death Ray mounted on the roof to transmit a signal that could wipe out half of California’s population and then resurrect the victims as obedient zombies for the Nazi regime. Elisa refuses to surrender the translation and endures continued electroshock, a torment she powers down with her psychic bio-energy. Blade, meanwhile, moves with cunning and fierce resolve, cutting a swath through the hideout as he hunts down Hauser’s operatives. He dispatches a henchman with a brutal stab through the mouth and throat, dodges Lang’s gunfire, and finishes him with a swift throat slitting. Hauser attempts to weaponize the puppets by transforming Barney into a zombie slave, but Barney’s transformation spirals into a violent confrontation as Blade attacks Gloria first, then takes out the transformed Barney by destroying him with a fatal sequence of stabs and head injuries.

Hauser pushes forward, beating Blade with a sledgehammer to prove the puppets can be destroyed, while Elisa shares every blow through their blood-bonded link. The scientist finally smashes Blade’s head into pieces, causing Blade to combust into ash. But the cycle of life and energy isn’t finished: Blade’s bio-energy re-enters Hauser, reawakening Blade within the doctor’s body and enabling him to kill Hauser by tearing his way out. A unsettling moment shows Blade’s face briefly contorting into a menacing glare before he dons his hat again and returns to the fight. The destruction of Hauser’s hand triggers a dead-man switch, and Joe slips Blade a wrench. Blade climbs inside the Death Ray device, disrupting the mechanism from within and triggering an explosion that blows the hideout apart. Blade, Elisa, and Joe escape unharmed as the structure erupts in flames.

In the aftermath, Elisa prints a story in the Daily Herald about a killer puppet foiling a Nazi death plot, though the paper’s tabloid reputation makes readers doubt the headline. With the immediate threat dealt with, Joe uses Blade to infiltrate Madison’s office, where Madison is ambushed and killed in a way that makes it look like suicide. The trio—Blade, Elisa, and Joe—then set out to uncover more American collaborators who have sold themselves to the Nazis, continuing a vigil that echoes the larger war between magic-infused puppets and human treachery.
