Birdemic 2: The Resurrection 2013

Four years after the events of the first film, Rod and Nathalie reconnect with their old friend Bill, a filmmaker eager to fund his next project, Sunset Dreams. Bill introduces Gloria, a waitress and aspiring actress, and asks her to audition for the lead role in his movie, sparking a new dynamic within the circle. As the news cycle buzzes with reports of mysterious bird deaths and a rain of blood, the group grows closer, and Gloria and Bill’s chemistry deepens until she lands the coveted role she auditioned for.

The gatherings become more frequent, and a visit to a museum with Tony, the boy Rod and Nathalie rescued and adopted, reveals a sobering connection: Tony’s sister Susan died after eating contaminated fish that Rod cooked. In the museum, they cross paths with Dr. Jones, from the previous film, who explains that prehistoric birds once attacked early humans and that many were trapped in the nearby tar pit. The atmosphere grows uneasy as a seaside vacation begins, during which a woman is attacked by a “giant jumbo jellyfish,” a scene that tests their resolve but is ultimately survivable as they save her and press on to a resort where Nathalie encounters her mother and Bill and Gloria share a night together.

The vibes shift dramatically the next day when blood rain returns, resurrecting countless birds from the tar pit and bringing two cavemen back to the surface. The group barely escapes an attack during filming, making it out with a handful of crew members, including screenwriter Will and actress Jessica. After a brief reunion with the tree hugger Tree Hugger, they hurry to a theater, only to bolt again once the birds appear. A graveyard confrontation follows, with zombies closing in and Jessica meeting a fatal end, heightening the peril.

The troupe then confronts both cavemen and finds a temporary refuge at a hotel, but the air is thick with danger as birds assault once more, resulting in the death of Will. In the end, the swarm recedes for a second time, leaving the survivors to process the strange, escalating chain of events that began with a simple film pitch and a charity of friendship.
