Spoilers ahead
The young witch Bibi Blocksberg, Sidonie von Krosigk, is set to receive the Witch’s Ball from the Witch Council for her remarkable acts of saving two children from death in flames—an honor usually earned only when someone is about to turn fifteen. Her proud mother, Katja Riemann Barbara Blocksberg, and her father, Ulrich Noethen Bernhard Blocksberg, share in the joy, even though Bernhard remains wary, since he is looked at askance at work for having two witches in the family. The ceremony is meant to be a moment of triumph, a visible sign that Bibi’s unique abilities have real, celebrated value.
