Sasi comes from a traditional Kerala family and lives under one roof with his parents — Bharathan Nair Bharathan Nair and Saraswati Amma Saraswati — along with his elder sister Shanthi Shanthi, her husband Ashokan Ashokan, their kids, and a younger brother, Arun Ghosh Arun Ghosh. Nearby reside Sreelatha and her husband Gopan Gopan, adding to the bustling household. The family’s daily rhythms revolve around the local temple and Sasi’s active role on the temple committee, where a new idea begins to take shape: a ritual called the Griha Pooja (Blessing the house), envisioned as a way to bless homes and also boost temple revenue. The plan unfolds with a practical twist — the initial blessing is slated to happen at their own home so neighbors can be persuaded to participate.
Tragedy strikes when Bharathan Nair suffers a stroke, and doctors warn that his days may be numbered. With the father in hospital, the family agrees to postpone the house pooja and instead carry out the ceremony later, much to the annoyance of Subhash Subhash, a rival on the temple committee. To help care for Bharathan Nair, Sreelatha and Gopan move in, but financial pressures loom large: they also expect a substantial 25 lakh rupees to help Gopan secure a job. Amid the heated emotions, a life-altering disclosure emerges from Bharathan Nair on his deathbed: he has a second wife, Rukmini Rukmini, and a son, Ajay Ghosh Ajayghosh, living far away in Sreekandapuram. He asks Sasi to relay this truth to the family, a revelation that sends shockwaves through the household.
What follows is a quiet cascade of surprises. Arun Ghosh and Ajay Ghosh look astonishingly alike, a striking coincidence that both amuses and unsettles everyone. The bond between the two men grows, softening initial hostilities, while Sreelatha forms a budding connection with Rukmini, and the rest of the family slowly learns to tolerate and even accept their new relatives. Yet the looming threat of inheritance disputes colors every interaction: Ashokan and Gopan worry that Rukmini and Ajay might have their sights set on Bharathan Nair’s wealth, and they search the house for proof of marriage to challenge the legitimacy of the second union.
Their agitation peaks when Bharathan Nair’s marriage to Rukmini is revealed to be legally recognized, a twist that unsettles the room and heightens tensions. The revelation shifts the dynamic from suspicion to reluctant acceptance, and the family begins to navigate life with two wives and two half-siblings under one roof. Despite the initial fear and friction, the family gradually starts to adapt, finding common ground in shared history and love.
As the temple committee grows impatient and urges the pooja to proceed at Sasi’s home, Subhash presses for clarity, and the Velichappadu — the local mystic figure — is left confounded by the sight of Arun and Ajay standing side by side. The pressure culminates when Bharathan Nair dies after a coconut strike during the last rites, a moment that tests everyone’s composure and loyalty. Saraswati herself invites Rukmini and Ajay to participate in the final rituals, breaking the ice and prompting Sasi to reveal the family’s long-buried secret to the community.
In the end, Rukmini and Ajay decide not to claim a share of the inheritance, choosing instead to seek their own paths. The clan they join — once wary — embraces them with open arms, and the family that seemed torn apart by secrets and divisions discovers renewed unity. The film closes on a hopeful note, celebrating forgiveness, reconciliation, and the idea that kinship can endure even the trickiest of revelations. The house, once a stage for tension and suspicion, becomes a place where everyone belongs, and the whole family moves forward together.
