Set at the all-boys private boarding school Krabbesøgaard, the story follows a turning point as the school’s rector is named the new minister of culture.

To fill Bosted’s seat, the rector Axel Strøbye Bosted must find a replacement. The choice falls on the young and popular teacher Ole Søltoft Mikkelsen, who is popular among the students for wanting to turn the school into a mixed-gender institution that admits girls.

But a snag stands in his way: Mikkelsen is a virgin, and school policy requires the rector to be a married man. With only thirty days before the government is officially announced, Bosted must resign, or the position will fall to the despised teacher Holst, known as “the doormat,” played by Paul Hagen.

The senior students—Torben, Vagn, Ole and Michael—who are already worldly, set out on a playful mission to help Mikkelsen gain experience. They enlist help from Bosted’s neglected wife, Erna Bostedt, portrayed by Annie Birgit Garde, as well as the chairman’s daughters, Line Barnewelder and Erica de Renan, played by Birte Tove and Anne Grete Nissen respectively. They even hire a stripper to guide Mikkelsen through the world of romance—the performer Pippi Langstrømpe, brought to life by Mette von Kohl.

As the plan unfolds, Mikkelsen begins to glimpse the complexities of love and attraction, while the clock ticks toward the ultimatum: can he secure a wife within 30 days, or will the position indeed pass to Holst, the dreaded “doormat”? The story blends humor, mischief, and a touch of rebellion as the boys push boundaries and test the boundaries of tradition in their bid to reshape the school—and its future rector.
