Set in Weimar, 1921, the film follows Lotte Brendel, a young woman whose future appears mapped out by her family. Defying their expectations, she joins a group of artists and gains acceptance into the Bauhaus school, led by the innovative Walter Gropius. The Bauhaus aims to merge arts and crafts while searching for a new type of person. Lotte finds support and love with fellow student Paul Seligmann, as she navigates this transformative period.
