Asma, portrayed by Revalina S. Temat, faces a heartbreaking revelation when she discovers that her fiancé Dewa, played by Ibnu Jamil, has impregnated another woman named Anita, depicted by Chintya Ramlan. Devastated, she decides to cancel their wedding and urges Dewa to take responsibility for his impending fatherhood.

Three months later, Asma embarks on a journey to Beijing for her work as a reporter. Embracing her new surroundings with the support of her friend Sekar, depicted by Laudya Cynthia Bella, she begins writing a column that explores the lives of Indonesian migrants in China. Throughout her assignment, she visits iconic landmarks such as the Beijing National Stadium and the Great Wall of China, interviewing local residents and sharing their stories.

During her time in Beijing, Asma encounters a young Chinese man named Zhongwen, brought to life by Morgan Oey, on a bus. Their initial interactions are brief, but they soon connect more deeply when Zhongwen serves as her tour guide at Niujie Mosque. Through their discussions about religion, Asma learns that despite Zhongwen’s extensive knowledge of Islam, he is not a Muslim. This revelation does not deter them from forming a bond that strengthens over time.

Meanwhile, Dewa, having come across Asma’s published columns, travels to China with a bold intention: to divorce Anita and marry Asma instead. However, during a trip to the Temple of Heaven, his jealousy surfaces, leading him to mistreat Zhongwen because of his non-Muslim status. This behavior infuriates Asma, prompting her to distance herself from Dewa.

As the weeks pass, Asma begins to suffer from debilitating headaches, ultimately collapsing at her workplace. Doctors diagnose her with antiphospholipid syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that compels her to return to Indonesia for treatment. Without informing Zhongwen, she leaves, yet she finds herself reflecting on their conversations about love and sacrifice, particularly the story of Ashma. In this period of contemplation, Asma comes to realize that her feelings for Zhongwen have blossomed into love.

Upon her recovery, Asma moves in with her mother while receiving help from Sekar. Dewa, undeterred by her decision, continues to pursue her. In the interim, Zhongwen dedicates himself to studying Islam and eventually converts. Driven by his love for Asma, he travels to Indonesia to reveal his intentions. Tragically, Asma suffers a period of blindness and physical decline, which leads Zhongwen to vow to care for her. Dewa, recognizing that Asma does not wish to marry him, decides to return to Anita.

As Asma begins her healing journey, Zhongwen approaches her mother for permission to propose marriage, a request that is warmly accepted. Despite the worry over potential complications that could arise from any future pregnancy, Asma and Zhongwen affirm their commitment to one another. Once her condition stabilizes, they return to China together, where Asma publishes a novel chronicling her experiences. In a touching turn, she learns that she is pregnant, and both she and Zhongwen express their hopes that their child will embody the same strength and endurance as the love they share.
