Paranormal novelist Gideon Harlax is pulled into a cosmic struggle between the forces of good, embodied by the alien angel Helith, and the forces of evil, embodied by Helith’s brother Asrael. The conflict spans locations from Oxford to Denmark, a North Sea ferry, and even an alien world, as Harlax unwittingly becomes entangled in an ancient scheme that threatens the destruction of Earth.
