Arun, the only son of a wealthy businessman named Mr. Chaudhury, pursues a dream of becoming a singer. He performs on local radio, mainly singing songs written by his friend Shrikant, but his father believes that a life in singing isn’t fitting for someone of their status. This clash between tradition and passion creates frequent tension at home, pushing Arun toward a difficult choice.

When a heated quarrel with his father pushes him to leave, Arun heads to Calcutta and reinvents himself as a singer on the local scene while also working as a driver for a man named Mathur. He lives with Mathur and Mathur’s granddaughter Sunita, a headstrong, hopeful young woman who grows to admire the anonymous Sanjay Kumar that Arun has become. Mathur, meanwhile, is a man whose own family is fractured by loss: he has not seen his son since a war, and he searches for his daughter-in-law and grandson with a stubborn, aching persistence.

Arun’s growing bond with Sunita deepens as she admires his stage presence and kindness, not knowing that the mysterious Sanjay Kumar is actually Arun himself. The moment of truth arrives when Mathur learns that Arun is, in fact, the escaped son of his longtime friend Chaudhury, and the discovery compels him to share this revelation with Arun, bringing hidden family ties into the open.

Meanwhile, Shrikant’s health worsens dramatically, diagnosed as end-stage tuberculosis. His mother travels to Calcutta with him, and Arun is shaken by the sight of his ill friend. Driven by loyalty and compassion, he makes a bold decision to help, orchestrating a stage show that he nearly abandons at the last minute but ultimately carries through. The performance raises enough money to cover Shrikant’s operation, and hope returns as the medical procedure proceeds.

The operation is a success, and Shrikant is reunited with Mathur, revealing the earlier connections between them. This emotional turn also leads to a broader reconciliation: Arun’s parents come to Calcutta to witness the turning point in their son’s life, and his father’s perspective on singing shifts from doubt to acceptance.

In the end, the family bonds are repaired, and love completes the circle. Sunita and Arun affirm their commitment to each other, cementing a union that bridges two generations and two worlds—glamour and struggle—while showing that music and family can heal old wounds.
