Cristiana is a young and beautiful princess living in Rome, bored by the gilded expectations of her traditional parents. Marco is a practical, down-to-earth electrician and the son of a news agent, quietly rooted in the everyday pace of life. A minor car accident brings them together, and a spark of attraction quickly grows into a decision to be together despite the chasm between their social worlds.

As their relationship deepens, a powerful love takes hold, yet misunderstandings born from class differences begin to fester. On a holiday with Cristiana’s friends, their differences in style and behavior are laid bare, amplified by the return of an old flame who test the bond between them. The tension proves difficult to bridge, and the couple eventually breaks up.

Cristiana moves toward an arranged marriage with the wealthy French nobleman Felix de Rothschild, yet the pull of their love endures beneath the surface. [Marco] point-blank decides to chase what he cannot bear to lose, learning of Cristiana’s upcoming wedding and embarking on a road trip from Rome to Paris. He falls asleep at the wheel and crashes into a truck, a catastrophe that casts a long shadow over both of their futures.

Meanwhile, Cristiana marries and prepares to depart on her honeymoon, but fate intervenes when she reads a newspaper report about Marco’s accident. She abandons her husband and races to the hospital, choosing to return to the boy and the life they share, driven by a love that refuses to be erased by circumstance.
