Seven lifelong friends — Danny de Munk as Bram, Peter Paul Muller as Mark, Johnny, Kasper van Kooten as Peter, Raymi Sambo as Paul, Thomas Acda as Willem, and Antonie Kamerling as Hero — have been playing football every weekend for their local club, Swift Boys, since childhood. They hardly ever win, but the bond they share matters more to them than trophies.

During a weekend that would mark their 500th match, Bram enthusiastically proposes throwing a big party to celebrate the milestone. The others aren’t keen, feeling it’s time to move on and pursue other life goals. Still, Bram’s energy eventually helps keep the team together, and they decide to keep playing.

Beyond the pitch, a tangle of relationships and personal ambitions unfolds. Hero falls deeply for Claire, Daphne Deckers who works for his father, and he decides to win her over by performing for her at a venue.

Roos, who is pregnant, and Mark are having relationship problems because Mark repeatedly cheats on her.

Johnny’s father, the team’s former coach, is seriously ill but longs to see his team play one more time before he dies.

Bram has been gay for years, a fact he keeps from his friends, and he faces the challenge of coming out in the macho world of football.
