All We Imagine as Light 2024

Prabha and Anu are two Malayali nurses navigating life together in the bustling metropolis of Mumbai. While Prabha, portrayed by Kani Kusruti, embodies a sense of stoicism and righteousness, her heart longs for her husband, who left for Germany just after their wedding, leaving her in a state of yearning. On the other hand, Anu, captures a more vibrant and adventurous spirit, engaging in a clandestine romance with a Muslim man named Shiaz. As fate would have it, a doctor named Manoj attempts to win Prabha’s affection, but she remains resolute, firmly rejecting his advances by citing her marital ties.

One day, the duo receives a mysterious modern rice cooker, a gift that arrives without a sender’s name, adding an intriguing twist to their lives. Prabha becomes deeply involved in a conflict when she learns that Parvaty, the cook at their hospital, faces a severe threat from a capitalistic builder who intends to demolish Parvaty’s cherished chawl to make way for a high-rise. Despite facing her own challenges, Prabha dedicates herself to helping Parvaty, who ultimately decides to leave her job and return to her native village in Ratnagiri as she lacks land ownership.

In a journey filled with hidden truths, Prabha and Anu accompany Parvaty to aid her relocation. However, unbeknownst to them, Shiaz has been following Anu. Their secret encounters become heated, leading to intimate moments that Prabha eventually uncovers. Amid the chaos of their overlapping lives, Prabha saves a middle-aged man from drowning, employing the lifesaving technique of CPR. Once he regains consciousness and is admitted to the hospital, Prabha bestows her care upon him, nurturing him back to health.

During their conversations, the man becomes a reflection of Prabha’s husband, apologizing for his past abandonment and seeking her forgiveness, culminating in a poignant kiss. As the night deepens, a more fulfilled Prabha invites Anu to include Shiaz in their beach shack gathering. To Anu’s surprise, they sit together beneath the glowing lights of the shack, a moment bursting with joy and contentment. This snapshot of their lives paints a vivid picture of friendship, love, and the intricate dance of relationships set against the vibrant backdrop of Mumbai’s endless possibilities.
