After seven years of marriage, the mild-mannered Doo-hyun finds himself pushed to his limit as his wife, Jung-in, gnaws away at him with constant nagging and complaints. The thought of divorce feels like a battleground he’s too afraid to enter, because the inevitable fights would only deepen the wounds between them. When his company relocates him out of state, Doo-hyun starts to believe his chance to break free has finally arrived, a chance he clings to with cautious optimism.
Yet fate has a cruel sense of irony. Jung-in doesn’t drift away; she surprises him by moving across the country to be near him, turning his escape plan into a tangled trap. Faced with a stalemate he cannot bear, Doo-hyun turns to an audacious and morally gray scheme: he enlists his next-door neighbor and legendary Casanova, Sung-ki, to seduce his wife and push her to file for a divorce first. The plan is crude, but Sung-ki, always up for a challenge, takes on the mission as if it were the kind of career capstone he’s lived for.
As Sung-ki begins to shadow Jung-in, he discovers more than just a challenge. He notices her vitality and sharp mind, and what starts as professional curiosity slowly blossoms into genuine attraction. Jung-in, meanwhile, doesn’t sit idle; Doo-hyun has already arranged for her to land a spot on a local radio show, where she speaks out, sometimes with biting honesty, about the injustices she sees in life. The rumor mill starts turning, and the growing tension between old loyalties and new desires becomes a powerful force in their lives.
Time wears on, and the line between duty and desire blurs. Sung-ki’s growing feelings for Jung-in complicate the original bargain, while Doo-hyun begins to regret the very scheme he funded. He starts to spy on his wife and her lover, seeking perhaps to reclaim what might already be slipping away. The more he watches, the more he finds himself reevaluating everything he thought he wanted. Loyalty and love pull in opposing directions as old habits collide with new aspirations.
Meanwhile, Jung-in’s heart remains a mystery to the men who think they can influence it. Sung-ki’s affection deepens, and his earlier confidence gives way to something more earnest and vulnerable. Doo-hyun, tormented by conflicting emotions, finds himself drawn back to Jung-in, realizing that the life they built together might be worth fighting for after all. The tension peaks as Doo-hyun pleads with Sung-ki to step back, only to face a bold threat: if Sung-ki continues his seduction, he could reveal that Doo-hyun, not fate, is the author of this messy triangle.
As the story unfolds, the audience is left to watch a delicate moral chess game. Who will win Jung-in’s heart? The fate of a long marriage hangs in the balance as passion, guilt, and the stubborn grip of affection collide, turning a comic-serious sextet of choices into a life-altering decision for everyone involved. The film doesn’t rush to a simple verdict; it leans into the messy humanity of flawed choices, unfinished conversations, and the unpredictable ways love can surprise you when you think you’ve charted a clear path.
