Adios Amigo delivers a modestly entertaining experience that hinges on its chemistry and feel‑good premise, yet it is hampered by uneven pacing and a bloated runtime. Critics commend the performances of Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu and note moments of visual charm, but they also point to weak direction in the second half and a lack of narrative tightness. The film offers occasional warmth but falls short of sustained engagement, resulting in a mixed overall impression.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Adios Amigo
Art & Craft
In terms of art and craft, the film starts with clear direction and appealing cinematography, but the momentum erodes as the second half progresses. Reviewers cite commendable visual backdrops and a pleasant background score, yet they also criticize inconsistent visual quality and notably poor editing. The combination of early strengths and later technical lapses yields a mixed but slightly positive assessment of the film's artistic execution.
Character & Emotion
When evaluating character and emotion, both lead actors receive praise for their chemistry and nuanced moments. Asif Ali’s portrayal of a naïve drunkard is described as endearing after an uneven start, while Suraj Venjaramoodu’s performance is consistently appreciated. Some reviewers note occasional irritation from Asif’s character, but overall the acting depth and relational dynamics are viewed positively, pushing the character score into the higher range.
Story & Flow
The story and flow receive a mixed reception, with the plot described as simple yet overly prolonged. Critics highlight a repetitive first half, a dragged‑out second half, and pacing issues that diminish engagement. While a few find the narrative heartfelt and coherent, the dominant sentiment points to a lack of tight screenplay and unnecessary scenes, resulting in a middling story score.
Sensory Experience
Sensory experience is generally favorably noted, especially for its scenic cinematography and effective background music by Jakes Bejoy. Reviewers enjoy the visual representation of the journey and find the soundtrack complementing the tone. However, some comment that certain songs feel superfluous and that visual graphics occasionally fall short, balancing praise with minor critiques and placing the sensory score in the moderate‑to‑positive band.
Rewatch Factor
Rewatch factor is assessed as modest; several viewers suggest the film works as a light, occasional watch, while others find it tedious enough to avoid repeat viewings. Positive remarks focus on its heartfelt moments and occasional humor, whereas negative feedback emphasizes its length and repetition. This blend of encouragement and reservation yields a rewatch score that hovers just below the median.

Sathpriyan alias Priyan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), a middle-aged man in a dire financial situation, spends his days drinking with friends while his mother is hospitalized, and only his sister Minimol remains by her side. In a bid to cover her medical expenses, Priyan reaches out to friends and relatives, but due to mounting debts, no one is willing to lend him money. The turning point comes when a man named Sojan (Shine Tom Chacko) agrees to help, but he sets a condition: Priyan must provide a guarantee cheque. The plan is simple in theory—they will meet the next morning to exchange the money and the cheque—but life quickly complicates it.
Priyan arrives at the bus station to wait for Sojan, only to have Sojan delayed for hours by an urgent matter. Undeterred, Priyan waits, and at the station he crosses paths with Prince (Asif Ali), a wealthy but aimless and carefree young man who lives in a haze of alcohol and excess. Prince, still somewhat estranged from his family with his father having cut off financial support, invites Priyan to join him on a spontaneous bus ride, insisting that waiting for money is pointless. Reluctantly, Priyan agrees to ride along.
Their impromptu journey takes them to a place familiar to Prince, where they visit a sprawling clothing store. It becomes clear that Prince intends to meet his ex-girlfriend, Hema (Anagha), but Hema is wary and refuses to see him, damaged by Prince’s ongoing alcoholism. The store staff echo the same sentiment. Priyan speaks with Hema, who tells him she will only meet Prince when he is sober. That night, the two men check into a luxury hotel, where Priyan enjoys the comforts of the room while Prince stumbles through the night, still intoxicated.
The following day, Priyan helps Prince stay sober and takes him to meet Hema in a sober state. They finally confront the past they survived together—an accident that left Hema without her right leg and Prince bedridden for months. Their candid conversation brings them closure, and they part on amicable terms. Grateful for his role in helping mend old wounds, Prince continues traveling with Priyan, albeit with Prince spending the rest of his money.
As funds dwindle, Prince tries to borrow more from friends and relatives, but his father’s edict against helping him remains in force. Meanwhile, Priyan reveals the gravity of his mother’s condition to Prince. Understanding Priyan’s desperation, Prince tries to persuade his wife Rini to transfer ₹50,000 to Priyan, but she refuses given Prince’s prolonged absence from home. With few options left, the two decide to part ways, and Priyan heads back toward his mother.
Yet fate offers a glimmer of hope when Prince returns with a rented car and offers to drive Priyan to the hospital, hoping to arrange funds. They visit Prince’s sister and her husband, the Mayor of Kochi (Jinu Joseph), but even he declines to help. With money running out and the driver growing impatient, Priyan musters the resolve to contact Sojan again, who lends ₹10,000, of which ₹7,000 goes to the driver, leaving them stranded on the roadside. Sojan urges Priyan to abandon Prince and focus on his mother, but Priyan refuses to leave his drunken friend behind.
They spend the night by the roadside, and when they wake, they find themselves near Prince’s house. The two finally part ways: Priyan boards a bus to visit his mother, while Prince heads home. Just as Priyan begins his journey, he receives a message that Rini has transferred ₹50,000 to his account. Overjoyed, Priyan rushes back to Prince, and the two share a moment of happiness before Priyan continues on his way.
