The movie narrates the story of Balakrishnan, a bank employee and heart patient played by Mukesh, who despite his health issues, indulges heavily in smoking and drinking. His deteriorating condition urgently requires a heart transplant, but due to limited chances of finding a suitable donor, he has given up hope. Fate takes a dramatic turn when he receives the heart of Aby Mathew, a young man who lost his life in a tragic car accident. This transplant is carried out after both families agree, and as Balakrishnan begins to recover, he becomes curious about the identity of his heart donor.
Shortly after discharge, Balakrishnan visits his doctor, eager to know who gave him the heart. The doctor hesitates but eventually provides a newspaper report detailing Aby’s death, complete with his photograph. This sparks a strange and unsettling experience: Balakrishnan starts seeing Aby’s ghost, which initially terrifies him. The ghost becomes inseparable, following him everywhere he goes — to work, the restaurant, the hospital, and even his home. His attempts to remove Aby’s spirit from his life are thwarted, leading to comic moments, especially since only Balakrishnan can see Aby, causing him to seem increasingly unhinged in the eyes of those around him.
The situation escalates when Aby reveals his tragic past. Aby shares that he was suddenly murdered on a busy street—initially shot by an unidentified assailant and later run over by a vehicle while trying to meet his newborn child. Aby’s ghost seeks Balakrishnan’s help to unravel the truth behind his death. Balakrishnan then visits Aby’s family—his mother, played by Kaviyoor Ponnamma, and his wife, Shobha, played by Maathu. Through Aby’s ghost, they come to believe in his story and begin to piece together the events.
Meanwhile, the police sub-inspector Damu, played by Sreenivasan, gets involved. Mistaking Balakrishnan for a flirt, Damu initially dismisses the ghostly encounters but is eventually convinced when Aby’s spirit visits his house, leading to comic chaos with Damu’s naive yet foolish attempts to understand the supernatural events. Despite the mockery, Damu helps uncover a darker secret: Aby was murdered by a notorious criminal named Benjamin Bruno, played by Gavin Packard. However, Bruno, fearing exposure, escapes from prison after pretending to faint, only for Aby’s ghost to trail him.
Through this pursuit, Aby overhears a conversation between his adopted brother, Alex, and Bruno. It turns out Alex, played by Jayaram, had hired Bruno to kill Aby and take over his inheritance, which included valuable businesses and assets. Aby’s ghost informs Balakrishnan, revealing that Alex’s greed led him to murder and cover up his crime. As the evidence unfolds, Aby’s loved ones initially doubt the ghost’s story, but the truth becomes undeniable.
The climax intensifies as Alex manipulates Aby’s family into signing over the inheritance, threatening their lives if they refuse. When Balakrishnan and Aby’s family confront Alex, he kidnaps Balakrishnan and threatens to destroy Aby’s transplanted heart. Aby, determined to save everyone, possesses Damu’s body, engages in a supernatural fight, and ultimately kills Alex. In the process, Alex’s ghost ascends to hell as divine intervention manifests: a heavenly light appears to take Aby’s spirit to paradise.
In the final moments, Balakrishnan and Aby’s ghost attempt to communicate, but their connection is severed. As Aby’s spirit is transported to heaven, the film leaves viewers with a sense of closure, merging elements of comedy, tragedy, and supernatural justice. This story beautifully explores themes of redemption, justice beyond death, and the enduring bonds between humans and spirits, blending humor and seriousness in a way that is both engaging and thought-provoking.
