A Snow Capped Christmas 2016

Claire Benson, Leah Renee is a celebrated figure skater whose drive has left her emotionally exhausted. Driven to the brink by a relentless coach, she spends the weeks leading up to Christmas at a picturesque sports rehabilitation center set high in the Western Canadian mountains. There, she encounters Luke, Niall Matter, a single father and former Canadian hockey player who retired after an injury and now spends his days raising his daughter, Gracyn Shinyei as Chamonix, and running a local ice fishing and tackle shop. The two start with a rough rapport, each convinced their world is defined by competition and survival, but they soon discover they have more in common than they thought. Luke embodies the rugged Canadian north, guiding Claire through winter rituals like snowmobiling, ice fishing, and even cutting down a real Christmas tree. Claire returns the favor, encouraging Luke to lace up again on the ice, something he hasn’t done since his retirement. Together with his former hockey teammates, Luke stirs the town’s Christmas spirit by staging a Christmas Eve game on the ice-covered lake, a moment that feels distinctly Canadian. As the days lead up to the holiday, Claire senses that life can be about more than chasing medals, and she learns to see the mountains anew. Her decision to step back from the chase resonates with Luke and his daughter, whose Christmas becomes complete when Claire returns to the mountains with a new sense of purpose.
