A Nameless Band 1982

Vanya [Maria Kavardjikova], Velko [Velko Kanev], Filip [Filip Trifonov], Pavel [Pavel Popandov] and Gosho [Georgi Mamalev] form a band with a dedicated lead singer, Vanya, who is Filip’s girlfriend. They dream of catching a break at one of the big seaside resorts during the holiday season, a key step on their road to fame. To make that leap, they know they’ll need proper HiFi equipment, reliable friends, and a venue that can raise their profile. At first the path ahead feels bright: harmony in their music, camaraderie in their plans, and the promise of a prestigious stage. Yet the reality of show business soon reveals itself as a steep price tag and hard choices.

The director of the House of Culture offers them a tempting package: he can supply everything they need, but with two heavy conditions. First, he insists they perform songs with political charge, something they have always refused, choosing their integrity over following a trend. Second, he forces them to replace Vanya with his beautiful favorite, Reni [Katerina Evro], a singer with less talent but far more polish in his eyes. The group agrees to press on, but the choice to swap their cherished frontperson gnaws at them, hinting that the deal isn’t as protective as it seems. They arrive at the seaside hotel prepared to perform with Reni instead of Vanya, only to discover that the supposed “protector” wields influence that isn’t as strong as it appeared, and that he has cheated them in subtle, painful ways.
