Sung Kang-jen, portrayed as a dedicated bomb disposal officer, faces the consequences of a fateful decision he made three years prior. After a traumatic incident during simultaneous bombings at a cinema and a department store, where he opted to defuse the bomb in the cinema to protect his beloved wife, Huang Hsin, and his superior, Lee Chieh, his choice inadvertently led to the tragic deaths of hundreds at the department store. This heavy burden of guilt shadows him, influencing every aspect of his life.

As the third anniversary of this tragic day arrives, Sung, along with his wife Huang, who works as a criminal investigator, boards the Taiwan High Speed Rail train No. 115. This train is set to make a journey from Taipei to Kaohsiung in a rapid 96 minutes. However, their trip quickly takes a chilling turn when they uncover that explosives have been strategically placed on the train.

The gravity of their situation intensifies as they learn that the bomb threat is intricately linked to another train, No. 289, which is running in parallel. The diabolical plot involves a countdown that adjusts inversely based on the train speeds; thus, if they manage to disarm the bomb on one train, the explosives on the other will detonate, adding a layer of peril to their efforts. The mind behind this horrifying attack has direct ties to Sung’s past experiences and aims to thrust him into an agonizing moral quandary once again, compelling him to weigh the lives of many against the lives of a few.
