Master Mao [Eric Tsang Chi-Wai] is a seasoned warrior who fought in the Boxer Rebellion and now guards the tranquil town of Huang Jin Xia, a place that has drawn together revolutionaries from across China. Here, the locals live a peaceful life, largely uninterested in politics, and the days drift by with a quiet sense of routine even as memories of upheaval linger just beneath the surface. Among them is Xilian [Gigi Leung Wing-Kei], a woman Mao once saved along with her child; over the years, Mao did more than rescue them—he touched her heart, and a subtle bond has grown between them.

Meanwhile, Revolutionary Tieyun [Felix Wong Yat-Wah] and his like-minded comrades are staging a bold raid into a desert to smuggle gold, a risky scheme meant to secure firearms for another uprising. Their mission is driven by a firm belief that change must come, and their plans hinge on the crosswinds of fortune and danger. In the midst of their journey, they are ambushed by Ma Tianhong [Ni Hongjie], the Prince of Pok Yee Kak, a clash that tests their resolve and their wits. The crisis is averted when a sincere official, Governor Zhuo [Ti Lung], steps in with a vision for the country and a faith in Tieyun’s purpose.

Governor Zhuo recognizes that the fate of the nation may hinge on Tieyun’s presence, and he arranges for the revolutionary leader to travel to Huang Jin Xia to meet Master Mao. The encounter promises to fuse old loyalties with new ambitions, and the arrival of Tieyun disrupts the town’s carefully preserved peace. The retired revolutionaries, who had laid down their swords for a time, once again rise to defend the dignity of their country, rekindling a flame of courage and duty that threads through the community. In this unfolding drama, the quiet town becomes a stage where past and present collide, testing trust, sacrifice, and the enduring pull of freedom.
