
The third film of Paul May’s “08/15” trilogy, based on Hans Hellmut Kirst’s novel, is set in spring 1945 as German defeat nears. Kowalski’s battalion, under Major‑General von Plönnies, and Lieutenant Asch are left on their own, hoping to wait out the war without further fighting. Asch works to stop Nazi officers from vanishing and profiting from the chaos.
