Will Sharpe

Will Sharpe is an English actor, screenwriter and director whose career has combined sharp comedy with poignant drama. Born William Tomomori Fukuda Sharpe on 22 September 1986 in London, he spent his early childhood in Tokyo before his family returned to Surrey, giving him a bicultural perspective that informs much of his work. After attending Winchester College, he read Classics at the University of Cambridge where he presided over the Cambridge Footlights, honing his comedic writing and performance skills. Sharpe entered the professional world with a stint at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2008‑2009, appearing in productions such as The Taming of the Shrew and The Merchant of Venice, and made his television debut as Yuki Reid in the BBC medical drama Casualty. His breakthrough as a filmmaker arrived with the short Cockroach (2009) and the feature debut Black Pond (2011), which earned a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut. The creator, writer, director and star of the critically acclaimed Channel 4 series Flowers (2016‑2018), Sharpe explored mental health with a darkly comic sensibility, winning a BAFTA Television Award for Best Scripted Comedy. Subsequent highlights include a BAFTA‑winning supporting role in Giri/Haji (2019), directing the biopic The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021), and an Emmy‑nominated turn as Ethan Spiller in the second season of The White Lotus (2022). In addition to his on‑screen achievements, Sharpe co‑hosts the paranormal podcast Extrasensory since 2024. He is married to actress Sophia Di Martino, with whom he has two children, and publicly acknowledges living with type‑two bipolar disorder, using his platform to promote mental‑health awareness.
