Gabriela Tagliavini

Gabriela Tagliavini (born December 29, 1968 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an internationally recognized filmmaker, screenwriter and novelist whose career spans over three decades. After earning a bachelor’s degree in film directing in her native Argentina, she pursued a master’s in screenwriting at the American Film Institute, a training ground that sharpened her narrative sensibility and opened doors to Hollywood. Tagliavini burst onto the festival circuit with her debut feature The Woman Every Man Wants (also known as Perfect Lover), collecting Best Director honors at the New York Independent Film Festival, Munich Film Festival and several others in 2001. This early success cemented her reputation as a versatile storyteller capable of blending comedy, drama and cultural nuance. Throughout the 2000s she directed a string of commercial hits, including Ladies' Night, which topped the Mexican box office in 2004 and earned three MTV Movie Awards Mexico, and the television movie 30 Days Until I’m Famous produced for Viacom and VH1 with Madonna as executive producer. Her collaborations with high‑profile actors such as Sharon Stone, Eva Longoria, Kate del Castillo, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mike Tyson, Billy Zane and Christian Slater demonstrate her ability to helm diverse talent across continents.

In recent years Tagliavini has become a prominent figure on streaming platforms. Christmas With You reached the number‑one spot on Netflix in 26 countries and entered the global top‑10 in 80 territories in 2022, while Tequila Repasado (2023) showcased her inventive use of time‑travel comedy for Sony Pictures and Amazon Studios, debuting worldwide on Amazon Prime. She has also contributed as a writer to high‑profile projects such as the English remake of Luis Buñuel’s Belle de Jour and the biopic Cantinflas for HBO Films. Beyond directing, she authored the novel Los Colores de La Memoria (published in English as The Colors of Memory) and developed series pilots for Sony and Claro Video. A member of the Directors Guild of America, Tagliavini earned the prestigious 2006 ABC/DGA directing fellowship and served as a juror at the Berlin Film Festival. Her recent executive‑producer work on the Amazon series Casa Grande and the upcoming showrunner role for My Problem With Men underscore her evolving influence in both film and television.
