His passion for the performing arts was supported and nurtured by his mother, who frequently exposed him to theater. In the 1980s, Vazquez developed his musical talent, serving as the lead guitarist for two Billboard-charted rock bands, Urgent and Diving for Pearls.
Vazquez made his on-screen debut as Flaco in the 1992 film 'The Mambo Kings'. He has since acted in numerous film and television projects, boasting over 40 film credits. Some of his notable roles include parts in 'Captain Phillips', 'The A-Team', and 'American Gangster'. On TV, he has had numerous guest and recurring roles, starring in series like 'Midnight', 'Texas', 'Magic City', and 'Louie'. Vazquez maintains an active presence in the theater, co-directing LAByrinth Theater Company and earning a Tony nomination for his performance in 'The Motherfucker with the Hat'. Prior to acting, Vazquez stood out in the world of music, returning to it occasionally, even performing alongside Ian Astbury of The Cult in 2009 under the band name The Soft Revolt.
